OUR BELIEFS

In a society that continually promotes alcohol and drug use at every level, the need to provide education on the dangers of alcohol and/or drug abuse and its effect on the family has never been greater. We believe this education needs to begin as early as possible in people’s lives. Properly educated, children and youth are much more resistant to being susceptible to use or abuse of alcohol or drugs. We support the disease concept of addiction as defined by the American Medical Association, and believe that addiction is centered in the mutual relationship between the individual and his or her environment rather than centered solely in the individual. Therefore, alcohol and/or other drug (addiction) problems are not only individual problems, but problems affecting the family, the community and society. We know the effects on the family are just as devastating and understand alcoholism and/or drug addiction is a family disease.

Every person has the right to be free from alcoholism and drug dependency. NCADD-SFV is dedicated to providing prevention, education and referral services to the community regarding the effects of alcohol and drug use / abuse, beginning with children and youth. Our vision is to provide quality prevention, education, treatment and counseling, and referral services regarding substance use disorders.
